Learning is Easy as Pi when it's rooted in faith, nature, and community! We’re a Christ-centered homeschool co-op where children explore STEM, gardening, cooking, and the arts through hands-on, biblical learning.

🌱 A DREAM, A TEACHER, AND A CRISIS WE CAN’T IGNORE 💞
Dear friends,
After the passing of my precious daughter, I asked God to grow something beautiful out of the grief—something that could bring healing, hope, and life to others.
📚✨ What He gave me is Easy as Pi: A Christian Homeschool Co-op, held here at Upward Way Homestead in the peaceful mountains of Shingletown, CA
This is not a traditional school—it’s a faith-based educational support program where homeschool families gather to nurture their children’s hearts, minds, and bodies through hands-on, Christ-centered experiences.
🌿 WHAT WE OFFER
At Easy as Pi, children enrolled by their parents in home-based education enjoy:
-
Support in learning to read well, think clearly, and grow in biblical character
-
Hands-on cooking experiences with farm-to-fork meals using garden-grown produce
-
Daily time outdoors to explore, move, build, and connect with God’s creation
-
Participation in animal care, a weekly farmstand, and practical skill-building
-
A nurturing, whole-child environment rooted in faith, health, and community
And now, with a certified teacher, a dedicated missionary mentor, and a farm-based learning leader joining us, families receive an extraordinary level of educational enrichment and support—while maintaining the freedom and responsibility of home education.
🚨 THE CRISIS OUR CHILDREN FACE
What I see in our community reflects what’s happening nationwide:
📖 The Literacy Crisis
-
Only 32% of 4th graders in the U.S. are proficient in reading (NAEP, 2022)
-
Over 60% of children read below grade level by age 9
-
Struggling readers face increased risk of mental health issues, academic failure, and lifelong hardship
🌳 The Nature Deficit Crisis
-
Kids spend less than 7 minutes a day in unstructured nature (National Wildlife Federation)
-
Most now have 7–9 hours of screen time daily (NIH)
-
The result: rising rates of depression, ADHD, and emotional disconnection
⚖️ The Childhood Health Epidemic
-
Nearly 1 in 5 children is clinically obese (CDC, 2023)
-
1 in 3 is overweight or obese, placing them at risk for chronic disease
-
Most children now consume ultra-processed foods as the majority of their calories (JAMA, 2021)
-
Experts warn:
“This generation may live shorter lives than their parents.”
(New England Journal of Medicine, 2005)
We cannot ignore this.
But together, we can do something about it.
✨ THE VISION: A DIFFERENT WAY
At Easy as Pi, our nonprofit co-op is committed to keeping this program accessible to all families, regardless of income.
It costs about $550/month per child to provide meals, enrichment materials, and a beautiful environment with guided instruction and hands-on learning.
We do not charge formal tuition. Instead, we invite:
🌻 Suggested family donations and participation
🙏 Community sponsorships
💞 Monthly gifts from generous partners like you
💖 HOW YOU CAN HELP
Last week, in a dream, the Lord showed me a number:
$5.75.
That’s all.
If each person reading this gave just $5.75, the needs of this program could be fully met—blessing every child God sends to us.

This is not an educational institution.
It’s a garden of growth, healing, and learning, where parents remain the primary educators and the community comes together to support one another in raising children for the glory of God.
🌱 Please pray. Please give. Please share.
Together, we can make room for every child—and plant seeds that will bear fruit for generations to come.
With love and purpose,
💛 Charmaine
